About
Our Story - So Far
In September of 2021, I purchased a drum set and played it in my basement for a couple of months, listening to some songs on my headphones and trying to bang the drums along to them. Man, playing the drums is fricking difficult! Who knew? I probably should have attempted drums when I was younger - other than those 30 days during summer in Nick's garage waaaay back in high school. It didn't take long for me to realize though that playing drums by myself gets a little lonely and repetitive. This may surprise you, but I'm kinda a goal-oriented dude. So....

The next month - October - I was sitting with my friend "Super Dave" on the front-porch of my lake house in central Florida drinking ONE beer. :-)
"Hey Super Dave - I think I want to start a band!"
He replied, "Cool, I used to play bass guitar back in the day. I'll be in your band, Marc!"

Of course, he knew it was just the one beer talking. I mean, who starts a band at the ripe old age of 56 having never played a musical instrument?? That's crazy, right? Okay, admittedly, I've done crazier things.

One of my favorite quotes though is: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!"

A few weeks later, the word got out that I was starting a band and people I didn't even know actually started showing up at my house for practice. Wait, what?! Strangers and friends are showing up at my house with instruments and they are expecting me to know what I am doing on the drums - like playing something with a consistent tempo. Ummm... Apparently, I really need to learn to play an actual song on the drums - and quickly!

My basement is pretty small. It got even smaller with people and instruments crammed into it. So my wife suggested (strongly) that we move to an old abandoned fertilizer warehouse in downtown Havana. The warehouse was an absolute mess - completely filled with junk and Ammonium Nitrate dust from 100-yr old rotting fertilizer bags (see journey page). Nonetheless, the warehouse had AMAZING character and the owner let us use it for free (that was very nice) so we started cleaning it (thanks to everyone who helped me, btw) and we had our 1st "official" band practice there. We didn't really know any songs yet, so we all just did our own thing playing - well - whatever. We were (how do I say this?) musically-challenged - well I was, for sure. A few town locals showed up one night to listen to us but they didn't stay long. I'm certain they were expecting some type of concert - and they didn't get one - not even close. We WERE loud though - they did mention that!

We played in that beautiful, delipidated, rat-infested, abandoned fertilizer warehouse throughout the month of February 2022, but it got hot fast (we live in Florida) in there (no air conditioning and the tin roof leaked), so we moved into yet another eclectic space next to my wife's furniture gallery and coffee shop in Havana. That is our current location. We practice almost every Monday night.

The band had some setbacks in October 2022; we lost some members, and then we gained back some even more bad-ass, committed members, but the goal never changed - play a live concert, on-stage, by October 2023 - and not completely suck. Obviously, we reached that particular goal. So I sold EVERYTHING and the story ends there. I'm just kidding! :-) Our new goal? Well, now we just want to keep making music together, perform on-stage and have fun doing it. Living the rock-star dream, baby!

We look forward to you attending our upcoming concerts. Oh yeah, we "suggest" a two-drink minimum! No, I don't mean that you have to PURCHASE two alcoholic drinks - what I mean is that we "suggest" that you INGEST a minimum of two alcoholic drinks before we start our first song. We'll sound better! :-)

Thanks to all our fans and families for supporting us! You guys rock.
